| 1. Detonation does not necessarily throw a code 34 but it does put you in safety boost correct? Does a faulty knock sensor put your in safety boost also or just throw the code? Correct. Faulty knock sensor (or harness) will throw the code and put you into safety boost as a precaution. 2.Buying a new knock sensor and sub harness from OEM, (should be here on monday,) I just disconnect the sub harness let it hang and attach the new one, correct? Anyone got a pic of where to attach the subharness? can I reach it without removing anything? somewhere behind and below the plenum right? does anyone have a picture? You can leave the old subharness one dangling, or even just cut it out of the way. You will not be able to reach the stock location of the det sensor, which is why you're relocating it. The subharness is a small oval shaped connetor with space for two wires in it. It resides in the IAA area behind the driver side of the plenum. The only other connector in the area that looks like it is a VTC solenoid connector. 3. For injector shopping, should I get 555's or 740's to go with my Z1 GT525's? I know bigger is better, but if my turbos wont flow enough air to max out the 555's they are a lot cheaper and fit my old style fuel rail. Is there any benefit to the fuel rail upgrade other than the ability to equip larger newer style injectors?
You really, really don't want to go with the older pintle style injectors. IMO, you'd be throwing your money away, as there would be a good chance of failure before long. In fact, the early style injectors are more expensive than later style, but of course the cost of converting needs to be factored in. The cost difference of later style 555's and 740's is only $50. Your choice. Also keep in mind, you'll have to get your ECU reflashed for whatever injector you get.
